A beautiful wedding took place on July 15th, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lismore.  Kelsey Altman, daughter of Cliff and Tammi Altman of Lismore married Andrew Lonneman, son of Kevin and Nancy Lonneman of Adrian.  Father Rick Colletti officiated at the ceremony.  Members of both families took part in the wedding.  The reception and dance were held at the beautifully decorated VFW Club in Wilmont.  The couple will live in Arkansas where Andrew is currently employed.  Our best wishes and congratulations to a special couple.

Jodi (Cook) Thier is one happy woman!  She caught a 30” walleye.  The fish will be mounted for all to admire. Where was she fishing?  Some things are secret, so you’ll never hear it from me!.  Congrats Jodi!

Last week Diane and Bernard Thier hosted a family reunion for 48 of their 51 family members.  The noon meal was held at Grove Park in Adrian.  After cleanup the family moved to the lovely home of Kim and Lane Bullerman on the golf course.  Daughter Laura was in charge of games for all.  Among the many activities was a water slide.  As the temperatures soared over 90 degrees, the water slide was a winner!  They played Jeopardy, had a rope pulling contest and a pinata.  Diane and Bernard’s family is very close and love getting together.  Just the fact that Bernard was present after his kidney transplant, made this reunion very special.  The Thier’s will be welcoming great grandchild #22 in December.  That will put the number to 52 for the next reunion!

The Adrian Meal Site had another ‘Two Buck Meal” on Thursday, July 20.  A baked chicken dinner was served to 19 guests.  The providers of this meal were Joe and Punky Dorn.  It is always good to see new faces and to have lots of coffee and “chatter”.  Thank you Punky and Joe!

Our continued best wishes go out to Larry Roemeling as he continues to undergo treatments in Sioux Falls.  Larry and Leslie are having many prayers said for them daily.

Jordyn Hudelson was the guest of honor at a bridal shower held Saturday morning at the American Legion Post #32 in Adrian.  The bride, who is a nurse at Avera, Sioux Falls campus,  received many lovely and useful gifts.  The groom, Jordan Pater, son of Joan and Darrin, will be a councilor at Adrian High School beginning this fall.  The bride’s colors of navy, blush rose, and gold were used throughout the decorations.  The guests enjoyed a morning brunch with lemonade and coffee.  The couple will have a fall wedding and will live in Luverne.  Congratulations to Jordyn and Jordan!

Mrs. Marvin (Lena) Rust was laid to rest on Friday, July 21st.  Her funeral was held at the United Methodist Church in Adrian, with Pastor Kristi Franken officiating.  Lena and Marvin were married for 63 years.  They are the parents of two children, Diane and Mike, and grandparents of 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Lena’s grandson Brian was a reader and granddaughter Lindsey Lonneman read a eulogy that had many in tears in the large group gathered to say their farewells.  Lena always put her faith and family first in her life.  She had a special love for each of her family members and the many folks she called friends.  Lena always had a smile for everyone she met and that person was always a friend.  Lena is now safe and pain free.  Surely Lena Rust was one of God’s chosen servants.  Blessed be the memory of Lena Rust.

I read a great article in the Globe about Worthington’s sister city Crailsheim, Germany, and the celebration of 70 years of friendship between the two cities.  I have written about this before, so please excuse my repetition.  Tom and I were driving in Germany after attending the Passion Play in Oberamergau and I noticed Crailsheim was in the area.  It was after 12:00 noon and we drove all over the city and didn’t see one person.  We then went to the railroad center and found one man who in his broken English and Tom’s broken German, said that no one worked on Sunday!  It brings back good memories as I remembered David Thier spending his Junior year of high school in Crailsheim.  Thank you readers for putting up with my repetitions!

AN IRISH PRAYER OF GRATITUDE

You’ve blessed me with friends, and laughter, and fun.  With rain that’s as soft as the light of the sun.

You’ve blessed me with stars to brighten each night.  You’ve given me help to know wrong from right.

You’ve given me so much.  Please, Lord, give me too,  a heart that is always grateful to you.  Amen
