Kaitlin (Leinen) Bullerman was recently selected for one of three New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements Nurse Awards at the National Nurses Week celebration last month, which was hosted by Sanford Health at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, SD. According to the Daily Globe, “This award recognizes a nurse professional who conscientiously integrates evidence-based practice and research into clinical and operational processes. This nurse professional has been educated to appropriately explore the safest and best practices for their patients and practice environment, and to generate new knowledge.” Kait’s professionalism, love for her job, her skills, and experience helped her secure the award. She was nominated by a co-worker. Kait is married to Colt Bullerman and her parents are Ken & Vickie Leinen of Lismore. Congratulations, Kaitlin!

Gary & Jackie Rodrigue’s grandson, Hunter DeJong has been doing quite well for himself in several wrestling competitions this summer. Hunter traveled to Akron, OH and placed fifth—good for All American honors in the Greco division at the UWW Cadet National Championships. He also wrestled freestyle and placed seventh– again earning All American status. Hunter has been selected by USA Wrestling to represent the US at the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in early July. Hunter’s parents are Heath & Wendy. The DeJongs live in Sibley, IA. Congratulations and best of luck, Hunter!
Ray & Shirley Wieneke spent the weekend with Travis & Renee Oertli and Reid & Alex. They helped the Oertli family move to their new home, which is just a few blocks away from their former home in Golden Valley. Al & LuAnn Oertli (formerly of Adrian) were also there to help with move.
Jack & Nancy Brake attended the graduation ceremony at Hastings High School on June 9th where their twin grandchildren, Jacob and Tori were among the graduates. The Brakes, along with Dave & Norma Balster and Don & Judy Lorenzen, all of Wilmont returned to Hastings on June 16th to attend the graduation reception for the twins. A bonus for Jacob & Tori….it was also their birthday! Jacob, Tori, and Mallory are the children of Mike & Tonya Brake.

Brad & Brenda Lynn and Jeff & Denise Lynn hosted “Breakfast on the Farm” on Saturday. Drone demonstrations, cattle feedlot tours, and lots of information were available for visitors along with morning pancakes courtesy of Chris’ Cakes and grilled burgers at lunchtime. Breakfast on the Farm is the perfect way for the public to learn about where their food comes from, the practices used to grow it, and what farmers do. Children were also able to participate in the pedal pull competition.
Father Richard Colletti was honored on Sunday evening at St. Anthony’s for Priest Appreciation. Catholic Daughters of the Americas Ct. St. Bernard #886 hosted the event for the Lismore, Adrian, and Wilmont parishes. Guests were treated to a picnic supper of grilled burgers, hot dogs, beans, chips and a variety of bars. Regent Stephani Diekmann spoke words of acclamation for Fr. Colletti and his service to the Catholic Daughters as well as the parish cluster. In turn, Fr. Colletti expressed his love for our area. We are very blessed to have Fr. Colletti leading us on our faith journey.

Descendants of the Herman & Josephine Wieneke family gathered at the Lismore Shelter house on Saturday for a potluck picnic. Family members took turns sharing memories, telling tales, and reminiscing. Good food and good memories brought about many smiles throughout the day.
Kaitlyn Kline was guest of honor at her bridal shower on Saturday. The guests played “gift BINGO” and were treated to a bagels, yogurt, mimosas and doughnuts. Kaitlyn is the bride-to-be of Brandon Weidert (son of Jeff & Jan).
Congratulations to Father Robert Maher, formerly of Kenneth, as he celebrates his 60th anniversary of priesthood ordination. Fr. Bob was ordained at St. Anthony Catholic Church on May 30, 1957. He is a retired military chaplain and still provides sacrament assistance at the Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.
Deb Lutmer was an overnight guest in the home of her sister, Carol Giroux & Darrel Johnson in Wheaton. Her busy weekend included attending the celebration of life for her friend Brian Zacharias, visiting family friends at the Browns Valley Health Care Center, a gathering of her 1975 classmates and attending the BVHS Alumni program.
