Our sympathy to Pat Henning and her family in the death of her husband, father and grandfather, Cyril “Sonny” Henning. “Sonny” was well know and respected in the Adrian/Lismore communities. He served his country for two years, being stationed in Japan, Korea and Hawaii. “Sonny” and Pat are the parents of two children Tim (deceased) and Peggy and six grandchildren. “Sonny” was always involved in his church and communities, being chairman of St Adrian Renovation Committee, which was not an easy task, but through it all “Sonny” respected every person he worked with and stayed friends with all. His last months were filled with pain and anxiety, but he was able to plan for his last home. “Sonny” will be greatly missed by his immediate family, but also by the many friends and acquaintances he served with or met along the way. Blessed be the memory of “Sonny” Henning.
A little rain, a little hail and little wind but still life went on in our area. Farmers are planting, kids are playing sports and having concerts and we adults go right along with everything. The Adrian Music Department put on their spring concert, Friday, May 5th at the High School gym. The concert started at 7 p.m. and ended right at 8 p.m. During that time we heard great music directed by Erika Bierman and Dustin Boyum. The audience heard the Middle school Band, Middle School Choir, Jazz Band, the High School Band, High School band, the High School Choir and then the combined bands and choirs. It was also awards night, with lots of applause! What a great evening of talent. Our students were so attentive and respectful of each other and all did so much to set up and dismantle when it was over! Thanks Adrian Music Department for a great evening.
I was humbled and excited to receive first place for my 8 line poem “Me” from the State of Minnesota Catholic Daughters! I would not be wrong to say I hope my poem will be used to help children in third world countries live a better life. “Smile Tram” is one of many organizations to help children with cleft palates who mostly live a life of shame and neglect. My little boy is from Peru and I have a “before” picture and an “after” picture. I know some of my readers are familiar with the program and have already helped a child and I thank you . Some may decided that they can afford the small price of about $250.00 for the surgery and I thank God for you! In the beautiful area of southwest Minnesota, there is not a business, a church or family that cannot afford to help a child. Thank you for considering this plea!
The First Baptist Church of Adrian held a “Ladies Lunch” on Saturday, May 6th in their beautiful new remodeled church. Guest from the four churches enjoyed hot dishes, salads and desserts that were made by the good ladies of the church. Special speaker was Sally Almodovar who spoke from the Gospel of John. Her theme was on the Light of the World. It was a great luncheon and so good to see ladies and children come together to enjoy each others company. Thanks First Baptist and you have a beautiful, well decorated church.

A day without wind in southwest Minnesota is rare, so enjoy them when they come! Let us all rejoice in these beautiful spring days! Isn’t God great?
The fleece blankets given to St Adrian graduates were made by the ladies aid under the direction of President Dawn Anderson. The blankets were presented at Baccalaureate Sunday Mass to the graduating seniors. Good Job!
