Dear Readers,  I hope everyone had a blessed Easter with family and loved ones.  Two deaths during the season makes many families sad, but with lots of good memories of their loved ones.

I attended an open house 90th birthday party for my sister, Laura Bosch, on Saturday afternoon, at Bethany Meadows, Brandon, SD.  Laura is the mother of five sons; Steven, Greg, Paul, Jeff, and Tom.  I was accompanied by my daughter Mary and Mark Taylor of Minneapolis.   Alan Cox, and granddaughter Taegan Gosch, were present along with many nieces, nephews and good friends, to wish her a happy birthday.  Her son, Steven, was the M.C. of a short program.  Mary and Mark returned to Minneapolis the same day.  Mary was quoted as saying “a fast trip, but a very important one – just to touch base with all the family”.  It was so good for Mary and Mark to get to spend time with their cousins.  Time goes too fast!

Father David Krogman, Pastor of  Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon SD, and Chaplain of Bethany Meadows, stopped in at Laura Bosch’s birthday open house.  As we visited with him, he told several family members how please he was to have Laura bring a blind friend to Mass and to all the Catholic services at Bethany Meadows.  (Laura is not Catholic.)  He said she was more devoted than many of his regular congregation!!  He just wanted to come and pay his respects to Laura!  What a thoughful thing to do on a busy Easter weekend.  Thank you Father David Krogman!

How can I begin to write about Holy Week?  It was three days of paying homage to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  The music, flowers, lights and all the volunteering made it possible to honor Jesus.  All the churches in our area made Easter weekend so special.  I can only describe, or try too, St. Adrian.  At the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil, the church was dark, except for the glow of the candles held by the worshippers.  The music was beautiful thanks to our choir and our organist Dave Knips.  Father Colletti officiated at this beautiful service. Five new members were welcomed into the church.  A lady next to me was enthralled with the organ music and the singing!  Three large, draped wooden crosses on the left side of the church reminded us of the man who died for us, but the main altar tells of our Risen Lord.

Easter weekend guests in the Dean & Cindy Bullerman home were their children, Seth Bullerman of Sioux Falls, SD and Levi & Alarie Bullerman, Levi Jr. and Lyla of Crookston, MN.  Joining them on Sunday for dinner were  extended family members Paul Jorgensen, John & Vicki Story, and Buzz Jorgensen of Dell Rapids, SD; Matt & Kelli Steffes and Eli of Tea, SD; Dave & Kendra Rislov, Owen, Nora, and Marie,  Riley & Debbie Jorgensen, and Jim & Kari Ryan and Dylan of Sioux Falls, SD; and Austin Ryan from SMSU in Marshall, MN.  After dinner the little ones enjoyed an Easter egg hunt while the “big kids” lamented that they ate too much!

Our sympathy to the family and many friends of Gene Erlandson.  Gene, age 98 died at the Minnesota Veteran’s Home of Luverne on April 14th.  Gene was perhaps one of last survivors of Pearl Harbor.  Gene is survived by his wife June, and five children; Gary, Diane, Dale, Robert and Donald.  Many articles have been written about Gene and his service to our country in the army during the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Gene’s family is very proud of his service record, as well as the residents of the Minnesota Veteran’s Home in Luverne.

Blessed be the memory of Gene Erlandson.

Our sympathy to the family of long time resident, Emanuel Wolf.  I will have something in next week’s Review.

Lots of memory making at the Alan and Cindy Cox home over Easter!  Their little grandchildren hunted for Easter eggs and received rides on the lawn mower!  Those memories are priceless!  Great-great grandma Alice Hokeness was a guest of Al and Cindy’s.  Alice is 100 years old and is recuperating at the Ellsworth Nursing Home.  What a great lady!
