This last week-end was a very busy one for lot of folks including this writer!

Last Thursday the Subway served green cookies in honor of St. Patrick’s Day to the coffee gals and guys.  May thanks to Manager Karla who put green frosting on sugar cookies.

On Saturday, in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, I rode in a van driven by Grandson Mitchell Cox.  I held the only Irish flag in the parade.  I said there were more people in the parade than spectators!  Lots of Irish Egan’s, Metz’s, dogs and baby strollers.

Starting at five p.m. the Nobles/Rock Cattlemen’s Association served huge steaks or hamburgers to may folks lined up at the American Legion Center.   The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great.  I don’t have the number of people served, but there was a steady  crowd.  Can’t beat those grilled steaks.  I had enough left over for several steak sandwiches.  Thank you Rock and Nobles Cattlemen Association, Adrian Town and Country members who did all the serving, along with the young people helping.

I attended mass in St. Catherine’s Church in Luverne on Sunday morning, son Mike Cox was my driver.  After church I was invited to Mike and Cheryl Cox home for a birthday party for three year old Juliet Wenthe, daughter of Elissa (Cox and Andrew Wenthe of Fayette, Iowa.  Juliet had a great time opening her gifts from several great grandparents, and also gifts made by Grandma Cheryl Cox.  It was a great day.

On March 19th St. Adrian hosted an Organ Recital featuring world renowned Marilyn Schempp.  Many folks were present to hear the beautiful organ music played on the Holtkamp organ by a great organist.  After a standing ovation, the audience was invited downstairs for coffee and bars in the church parlors.   Marilyn was gracious to meet the people she played for.  Introductions were made by Dave Knips and as always he was gracious.   It was a great afternoon for music lovers.

Father Colletti is back from his Arizona vacation and his beloved dog “Blue” spent time at the home of Nancy Wieneke.  “Blue” also enjoyed the cookie crumbs after the recital.

Providers for the “Two Buck” meal on Monday were Mark and Pam Luettel.  At last count thirty folks were present!!  Manager Marie Schwebach is dong a great job.  She has providers for several more meals.   The number at the center is 483-2588.
