Lismore News 3-22-17

The Tim Orth Memorial Basketball game was held in Wabasso, MN on Friday evening. Adrian High School seniors Mikayla Jeffers, Mitchell Lonneman, and Jacob Stamer played in the games, which offer assistance (financially or otherwise) to children in the West Central Minnesota area who face substantial medical expenses incurred as a result of a serious accident or illness.  This year’s event honored Molly Jo Einck, daughter of Mike & Melissa Einck.  Molly is recuperating at home following heart surgery in Ann Arbor, MI.  Those at the game supporting the Einck Family were Jerome & Mary Weidert, Jim & Kris Weidert, Nina & Olivia Weidert, Dave & Deb Lutmer, Brianne & Trystan Einck, and Burdell & Tammy Bents.  Molly’s mom, Melissa, and sister Mari attended the game while Daddy Mike stayed home with baby Molly.  The Jeffers, Lonneman, and Stamer families were present as well.  It was a very fun evening with lots of good entertainment, including slam-dunk and ball-handling professionals, an acrobatic team from Fargo-Moorhead, and mascots from various teams.  What a great night!

The 1st Presbyterian Church will host a Pancake Breakfast at the Lismore Legion Hall on Saturday, April 1st.  Pancakes, sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs will be served from 8:00-11:00 a.m.   Everyone is invited.

CPR, General First Aid & AED operation class is being offered by the Lismore Fire Department on Wednesday March 29th at 7:00 pm.  The class will be held at the Lismore Fire Hall.  If you have any questions, please contact Bob Koehne at 507-360-9857.

The Lismore community extends sympathy to Judy & Elmer Wieneke on the passing of Judy’s sister-in-law, Susan Kuhl.  Susan’s funeral was held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont on Saturday, March 18th.  Sue enjoyed flowers, painting, and ceramics.  She and her husband, Dave spent summers at Fox Lake and wintered in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  She loved spending time with her family.  Blessed be the memory of Susan Kuhl.

Rosanne Sloan of Rio Rancho, NM is spending several days in the home of her parents, Florian & Mary Ann Loosbrock.  She came especially to visit Flory at the South Shore Home in Worthington.

Lacy Weidert, daughter of Jim & Kris Weidert will be the guest of honor at a bridal shower on Saturday, April 8th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Lismore Legion Hall.  Lacy is the bride-to-be of Jeff Osborn.

Mark your calendar now for spring clean up on Wednesday, May 3rd. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of spring clean up to remove unwanted and unused items from their property.

The Easter Bunny is coming to Lismore on Saturday, April 15th at the Lismore Park and Lismore Fire Hall. Weather permitting there will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the city park at 10:00 am.  At 10:30, the Easter Bunny will make his way to the Fire Hall where he will hand out some candy and you can have your picture taken with him. This is just one of the many events the Lismore Booster Club sponsors throughout the year.

The Adrian Youth Wrestling Team wrestled in Tracy, MN on Saturday to qualify for the NYWA tournament in Rochester.  The Dragons placed 6th out of 14 teams.  Joyce Erdman and Mike Erdman were among the fans. Their great grandson Montana wrestled for the team.  He is the son of Jessica Erdman and Bob Slinger of Rushmore.  Joyce enjoys watching the wrestlers as they put their whole heart into each match. She is looking forward to next weekend when the youngsters compete at the individual tournament in Windom.

James and Lorna Van Der Linden, Lismore, were in Pierre SD recently to attend the graduation of their son, Eric, from the George H Mickelson Law Enforcement Academy.  The ceremony was held on Friday, February 24.  Those also attending were Chief of Police from Faith South Dakota, Matthew Van Der Linden and wife Heather and their children, John, Cheyenne, Grace and Wyatt and Katie Rock and her husband Brian from Woodbury MN.  As part of a special legacy presentation, families that have siblings or parents in law enforcement are able to present the certificates to new graduates.  Matt presented the certificate to his brother Eric. They were also able to celebrate February Birthdays while in Pierre.
