REGULAR MEETING ADRIAN BOARD OF EDUCATION
January 23, 2017
Board Chair Ed Lenz called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 6:00 P.M. on January 23, 2017. All members present, along with Superintendent Graff, Principals Christensen and Lofthus, and staff member Cate Koehne.
Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel, to approve the agenda items with no additions, motion carried.
Motion by Madison, seconded by Bullerman to approve the minutes from the December 19, 2016 and January 3, 2017 meetings, with noted corrections, motion carried.
Motion by Wolf to approve the claims and accounts for the month of December 2016, seconded by Kunkel, motion carried.
Superintendent Graff presented the December 31, 2016 reports. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Sieve to approve the account balances for the month of December, motion carried.
Mr. Lofthus presented his Elementary Principal’s report.
Presented information regarding the various Minnesota Reading, Early Literacy and Math Corps programs. Requested to continue with the Reading Corp program and asked to apply for the Early Literacy program and Math Corp program. Motion by Wolf to pursue these programs, seconded by Bullerman, motion carried.
Gave an update on the playground tiles and the counter offer presented, motion by Kunkel, seconded by Sieve to accept counter offer and the product to resurface the playground areas, motion carried.
Mr. Christensen presented his Middle/High School Principal’s report.
Updated the board on building related issues.
Requested permission to have the city Channel 3 access to televise various activities. Motion by Kruger, seconded by Kunkel to approve request, motion carried.
The District is not participating in the One Act Play performances this year.
Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:
Presented a Building and Grounds update.
Presented information from Leendert’s Lawn Care for fertilization and spraying for weed control. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Sieve to approve agreement, motion carried.
Announce hot water heater at the high school building has been replaced.
Reviewed the District’s policy in regards to over due lunch accounts, and possible ways to collect on them.
Informed the board that the District is required to request for proposals for our Food Service Contract. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Madison to advertise for Food Service proposals, motion carried.
Presented the final copy of a Retirement Incentive for K Nowotny. Motion by Sieve, seconded by s Madison to accept the incentive agreement, motion carried.
Presented a resignation letter from K Nowotny effective June 5, 2017. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Kruger to accept resignation, motion carried.
Gave an update regarding what is happening in Legislature.
Presented information on refinancing a Wells Fargo Energy Performance Lease Contract. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Kunkel to approve refinancing, motion carried.
Presented information about transferring the 5A Scholarship to the District Scholarships.. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to accept transfer and funds, motion carried.
Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kunkel to adjourn the January meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 7:10 P.M., motion carried.
