Funeral services for Myrna Nelson were held on February 23, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Andrew Palmquist. Burial was held in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, MN.
Myrna Luette Nelson, age 76 years, 10 months, and 6 days, of Luverne, died Monday, February 20, 2017, at her home. She was born April 14, 1940, to Annabelle DeBooy, at home in Magnolia, MN. Myrna was adopted by Harry R. Nelson on August 11, 1948. She resided at her home until she broke her leg and entered Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Ellsworth, MN for rehabilitation. Following rehab, she entered a group home in Luverne, MN and later began working at Rock County Opportunities for many years.
After Myrna retired, she continued to live in the group home close to the hospital in Luverne. Myrna took ill on Sunday, February 12th and entered into hospice care at the group home on Monday, February 13th.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne; the Friendship Circle; and Peoples First. Myrna enjoyed watching TV, family holidays and outings with her friends and staff at the group home. She loved food and was always happy with anything you would set in front of her. She loved attending church and could sing the old hymns with the best of them.
Myrna is survived by her brother, Daniel (Debra) Nelson, Magnolia; and sister-in-law, Carol Nelson, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her oldest brother, Norman Nelson.
