Adrian and the surrounding communities were shocked and saddened to hear the news that Tim Christensen, Adrian Middle/High School Principal passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Tim is survived by his wife Pam, daughter Stephanie, sons, Matthew and Cody and mother Rebecca. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, February 25. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne.
Tim has been a fixture in the halls of Adrian Schools since he was hired as Principal in 2007. Along with his duties as Principal he also took on the job of Athletic Director for the school until the 2015 school year. Tim was instrumental in bringing community service into the schools various volunteer projects with the students. He will be remembered as an educator, mentor to the staff, a positive role model to the students and a good family man. His positive outlook was apparent when helping with a story about an unusually large number of teachers leaving the school district due to retirement and relocation, he addressed the changes in effect saying that while the loss of experienced teachers is hard, the hiring of new personnel can be a good thing. His comment “new teachers, new ideas” proved to be prophetic in that those new teachers spearheaded many positive changes within the school.
Adrian Superintendent, Roger Graff, commented “ Tim Christensen came to Adrian MS/HS as principal in 2007-08. He immediately established himself as an effective leader and gained the respect of students, staff and parents. Mr “C”, as the kids called him truly wanted what was best for our school and worked diligently towards that goal. He always looked for the best in people and was an example of what a true servant-leader is. He will be greatly missed by our students, staff and myself. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.” Tim will be missed and mourned by the Adrian School District and communities.
