Adrian News – Feb 22

Alma (Heitkamp) Rowe, age 93, was laid to rest on Saturday, February 18th at a loving and special Mass at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne.  Officiating was Father Tim Jennings.  Alma’s presence was evident in so many ways, such as one of her beautiful crocheted rugs covered  half of the altar.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews had a part in the beautiful Mass.  Alma died just one year after her loving husband Burdell died.  That date was February 23rd, 2016.  Burdell and Alma rased and showed horses and had an Auction business.  Alma also worked for two dentists for many years, retiring in 1995.  Alma was a prayer warrior and said the rosary many times every day.  Alma was the last member of the large Heitkamp family (11).  Alma will be dearly missed by her two children; Joe and Shirley and 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Every family of the eleven children were represented and many took part in the wake services and the funeral Mass.  Blessed be the memory of a loving and dedicated servant of God.

Randy and Mary Reisdorfer had a great week of vacation in Florida two weeks ago.  They were guests of Gary and Connie Hoffer.  They spent lots of time sightseeing and visiting and taking outings at different places.  A great time was spent by all.

Kay Cox was able to attend the Alma Rowe funeral with Cheryl Heitkamp.  Cheryl also lent her arm when going up to Communion.  Thanks, Cheryl, you are a good friend.

The little great grandson’s stopped to see Grandma Kay Cox and Grandma Eileen Hokeness on Saturday afternoon.  The boys are Braxton Pittman and Marshall and Mason Cox.  The weather was so lovely the mom’s and the boys went for a stroll via a large buggie.

Valentine’s Day was a busy time for Jill Wolf, owner of Adrian Floral.  At one time there were three vans delivering her special flower arrangements.

SAL (Sons of American Legion) will be serving breakfast at the American Legion in Adrian on Sunday, February 26th starting at 9 a.m.  Plan on going.  Everyone is welcome.

What a great story in the Daily Globe about the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning.  The story tells about the narrow escape former Adrianite, Mark Thier had while snowmobiling out West.  It should be a wake up call for everyone.  Thank God for the safe recovery of Mark.  Mark is married to former Maria (Hieronimus) Thier of Adrian.

Tragic news has hit the town of Adrian and surrounding areas, the unexpected passing of Adrian’s Middle School/High School, Principal Tim Christensen.  Tim was 52 years old, married with three children.  Please keep his family, friends, schools and community in your prayers.
