Leota, MN

A time of fellowship will be from 3-7 pm Tuesday, February 7 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday, February 8. A Memorial Mass will be 11 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church officiated by Fr. Rick Colletti. Burial of cremains will be 1:30 PM Wednesday at the Leota Community Cemetery.

Vincent died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at his home. He was born July 21, 1938, on the family farm near Humboldt, SD, to Leo and Catherne (Van Dam) Persing.  Vince attended the first grade in Humboldt and then attended school in Wilmont and St. Kilian up to the tenth grade. He later graduated from the school of hard knocks.

Vince married Theresa Broich on July 12, 1958, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont. After their marriage, the couple lived in Wilmont. They moved to Worthington in 1964. In 1966, they moved to Schuyler, NE. They moved to their current home, Northwest of Leota, in 1970. Vince started working for Louie Hoffman Trucking in Wilmont; then at Young & Hay Trucking in Worthington. When the family moved to Leota, Vince worked at Mouws. In 1988, He retired due to a physical disability.

He enjoyed camping with family, raising and caring for farm animals, his tractors and tinkering in his tool shed. Vince liked a good cup of coffee with the guys at Ive’s Repair. Most of all, he loved being with his family.

Vince is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Theresa Persing, rural Leota; children, Margaret (Terrance) Zacker, Sioux Falls, SD; Linda (Pat) Flanagan, Pipestone; Scott (Sue) Persing, Hudson, SD; Leslie (Mark) Egger, Pipestone; Theresa (Rick) Vos, Faribault; Nicholas (Melissa) Persing, Wheaton; and Brian (Kristin) Persing, Jasper; friend, Mike Slater, Wilmont; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; siblings, Kathleen (Lloyd) Bullerman, Sioux Falls, SD; Lois Bullerman, Wilmont; Leland (Judy) Persing, Lonsdale; Eileen (friend, Milford) Peterson, Hartford, SD; Colleen (Dennis) Somnis, Worthington; Lynette Lupkes, Minden, NE; Marian (Dan Sr.) Diekman, Lismore; Phyllis (Tom) Scholtes, Marshall; JoAnn (Rod) Burkhard, Reading; and LeAnn (Doug) Onken, Inver Grove Heights; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, David Darveaux; brother, Leonard Persing; sister-in-law, Joanne (Peter) Paquette; three brothers-in-law, Larry Peterson, Lorne Bullerman & Bill Lupkes; two nieces, Renee & Rhonda Lupkes; and four nephews, Troy Lupkes and Keith, Leo & Thomas Scholtes.
