REGULAR MEETING ADRIAN BOARD OF EDUCATION, December 19, 2016
Board Chair Lonneman called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 5:30 P.M. on December 19, 2016. Members present Bullerman, Kruger, Lonneman, Madison and Wolf. Also present Superintendent Graff, Principal Tim Christensen, and staff member Jason Berghorst.
Members Absent: Kunkel and Ed Lenz.
Motion by Wolf, seconded by Bullerman, to approve the agenda by adding item “H” under the Superintendent’s report, member recognition, motion carried.
Motion by Madison, seconded by Wolf to approve the minutes from the November 21, 2016 meeting, motion carried.
Motion by Kruger to approve the claims and accounts for the month of November 2016, seconded by Wolf, motion carried.
Member Lenz and Principal Lofthus arrived at 5:32 PM.
Superintendent Graff presented the November 30, 2016 reports. Motion by Madison, seconded by Bullerman to approve the account balances for the month of November, motion carried.
Mr. Christensen presented his Middle/High School Principal’s report.
• Informed the board that a fire safety panel and keypad went out and is being replaced.
• Informed the board regarding an upcoming survey coming out regarding the Collaborative for district parents and staff.
Mr. Lofthus presented his Elementary Principal’s report.
• Gave an update on the playground tiles and the counter offer presented.
• Informed the board that we continue to have issues with the Rolex handicap accessible van.
Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:
• Presented a Building and Grounds update.
• Informed the board that the District is required to request for proposals for Group Health Insurance. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Madison to advertise for group health insurance proposals, motion carried.
• Presented his Superintendent’s Contract for July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020. Contract to reduce workdays to 110 days from 120 days, reducing benefits by 5 percent and salary to remain at $46,000 per year. Motion by Wolf, seconded by Bullerman to accept Superintendent’s Contract, motion carried.
• Gave an update on the retirement incentive with employee.
• Received a scholarship donation in the amount of $500 from the Clair Engen family for 2 years. Motion by Bullerman, seconded by Kruger to accept scholarship donation, motion carried.
• Recognized Board Member Mark Lonneman for his years of service to the Adrian Board of Education.
Board member Lonneman left at 6:00 PM. Vice Chair Lenz took over remainder of the meeting.
At 6:00 PM Truth in Taxation hearing took place. Mr. Graff reviewed the public information regarding the taxing limitation on the patrons of the district, showing an increase of 4.46 percent.
Following presentation, a motion by Bullerman, seconded by Madison to approve the Final Levy Limitation and Certification at $1,330,859.49, motion carried.
Motion by Kruger, seconded by Madison to adjourn the December meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 6:12 P.M., motion carried.
