Adrian News – Jan 18

Readers — Don’t forget the Red Cross Bloodmobile which will be in Adrian on Wednesday, January 25th from 2:00 p.m. to  7:00 p.m. at the Adrian High School.  Speaking of giving blood, Rod Scheidt of Adrian has given 20 gallons of blood to the Red Cross Blood Drive!  Now that is a lot of blood and Rod is a very busy man in his church, school and community.  Rod has given his talents to farming, sporting events, church and community.  Rod and his wife, Mary, are the parents of 6 great “kids” who all gave to their church, school and community.  Thanks, Rod Scheidt, for taking time to give 20 gallons of your blood.

Welcome, Matt Eickhoff, to the Adrian State Bank.  In looking back, this writer didn’t give credit to Honermann’s and Michele Wieneke for the great remodeling project of the Adrian State Bank.  All this took place during working hours at the bank.  Good job!

What frightful cold, icy, windy days we went through the beginning of January.  Many of us are looking forward to warm weather.

Thanks, Adrian High School and Middle School students for volunteering for the library remodeling.  Some of these students also served at the “Banquet” in Sioux Falls.  That is a lesson in “giving”.  Our school has great students who do lots of volunteering.

Spencer Gosch was sworn in as a Representative of District #23 of South Dakota last Tuesday, January 10th.  Spencer is the husband of former Adrianite, Ashley (Cox) Gosch and they are the parents of Teagan (7), Brody (3), and Remmy (1).  Attending the swearing in was Dean and Linda Gosch of Mobridge, SD, Al and Cindy Cox of Adrian and Whitney (Cox) Pittman and son Braxton of Sioux Falls.  It was an impressive ceremony.

Catholic Daughters Court #247 will be meeting Saturday mornings during January, February and March.  Our 3 officers are: Sue Buffington of Luverne and Leona and Lynette Domeyer of Worthington.  Last Saturday, January 14th, was our first “cold” meeting.  Our Priest Father Colletti dropped in for a short visit at our meeting, his beautiful dog “Blue” was with him.  I don’t ever remember having a dog visit our court!  I’m sure our court would make an exception if “Blue” would like to become a member.

Keep praying for our county, our community and all our friends who are battling sickness and other health problems.  Don’t forget to thank God for your own good health.

Readers — Don’t forget to the benefit next Sunday for the Mike and Melissa Einck family.  This Wilmont family needs lots of help for their unborn child.  Watch the paper for where to give a donation.  This rural area is noted for their generosity and compassion.  Please help them.
