GBB Open 2017 With Win Over Fulda

The Adrian girls’ basketball team opened the second half of their season with an 81-73 win over archrival Fulda Raiders. In a well-played game by both teams, the Dragons put in a season high 81 points on 47% shooting from the floor, while netting 21 of 29 freethrows. The win moves Adrian’s record to 4-7, while pushing their Red Rock Conference record to 3-2.

The Raiders grabbed an early lead at 11-7 before the Dragons got back-to-back three pointers to claim a 13-11 advantage. First, Hannah Bullerman, after connecting on consecutive freethrows, found the range from 19 feet, and when senior captain, Mikayla Jeffers, netted a three-pointer from the left side, Adrian gained a lead they would hold throughout the contest.

Getting points from six different players through the first half, the Dragons were able to build a 48-41 halftime lead. Junior post, Paige Bullerman, did most the damage from inside the paint putting in 15 of team leading 17 points in the games first 18 minutes. Freshmen guard, Moriah Bullerman, also faired well in the opening period, scoring 10 points.

As a team, Adrian tallied 11 of 14 freethrows in the first half with Miah Kunkel leading the way with a four for four effort.
