Adrian GBB Drop Holiday Tourney Opener

Facing a Red Rock Conference opponent, the Falcons of Red Rock Central, the Adrian girls battled back from an early double-digit deficit, claiming a one-point lead before an eight-minute scoring drought sealed their fate in the opening game of the TMB Holiday Tournament 66-41. It’s the Dragon’s fifth consecutive defeat as the loss drops the Adrian’s overall record to 3-6.

A Hannah Bullerman three-pointer opened the scoring for the Dragons only to see RRC score the next five points to take a 5-3 lead at the 15:29 mark. Kaitlyn Christians tied the score at five apiece when she connected on a fifteen footer from the left corner.

A second Christians field goal would keep the Dragons close at 8-7 before the Falcons went on a 12-0 rally to claim a 20-7 lead with 11:08 to play in the first period. Adrian’s Senior Mikayla Jeffers would get her team started on a 9-2 Dragon rally with a basket from the left wing. Miah Kunkel then would take an assist from Hannah Bullerman to add another basket, cutting the Falcon lead to 20-11.

It would be Jeffers again for the Dragons as she added points to the board from the three-point range, followed by Paige Bullerman knocking in her first points of the night.  Adrian was back to within four points at 20-16. Both teams traded misses over the games next couple minutes before Jeffers netted her second three pointer of the night to make it a 22-19 RRC advantage.
