ADRIAN BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING, OCTOBER 17, 2016
Board Chair Lonneman called the regular meeting of the Adrian Board of Education to order at 6:03 P.M. on October 17, 2016. Members present Kruger, Kunkel, Lenz, Lonneman, and Madison. Also present Superintendent Graff, Principals Lofthus, and Christensen, staff member H. Klingenberg.
Members Absent: Bullerman and Wolf.
Motion by Kunkel to approve the agenda, seconded by Kruger, motion carried.
Motion by Lenz to appoint Kunkel as acting Clerk in Wolf’s absence, seconded by Kruger, motion carried.
Motion by Madison, seconded by Kunkel to approve the minutes from the September 19, 2016 meeting, motion carried.
Motion by Madison to approve the claims and accounts for the month of September 2016, seconded by Kruger, motion carried.
Superintendent Graff presented the September 30, 2016 reports. Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to approve the account balances for the month of September, motion carried.
Mr. Lofthus presented his Elementary Principal’s report.
• Requested approval of hiring D. Kells as a Long Term Sub. Motion by Lenz, seconded by Madison, motion carried.
• Reviewed upcoming vision & hearing screening for all student in grades K-5.
• Reviewed Pre-School Screening.
• Announced upcoming hot lunch week at the Elementary.
Mr. Christensen’s presented his Middle/High School Principal’s report.
• Presented the Minnesota State High School League Grant Form A for approval, motion by Lenz, seconded by Kunkel to approve grant, motion carried.
• Presented a request from the Student Council for overnight travel to attend a Student Council retreat in Fergus Falls on November 6 and 7, motion by Madison, second by Kruger to approve request, motion carried.
• Mrs. Bierman requested to take drum line to the Parade of Lights in Sioux Falls on November 25.
• Discussed football section finals date and time.
• Reviewed the Spanish Trip to Costa Rica in 2018.
Mr. Graff presented his Superintendent’s report:
• Presented a Building and Grounds update.
• Gave an update on the Elementary playground tiles.
• FAC’s kitchen cabinets installed in two kitchens.
• Having a few issues with the heat pumps and thermostats at the high school.
• Gave an update on the recent roof leaks at Elementary and High School.
• Will be receiving an energy rebate for the installation of lights in the High School gym.
• Presented the resignation of Mike Nolte as custodian, motion by Kunkel, seconded by Madison to accept resignation, motion carried.
• Announced that the district will need to hold a special meeting to canvass the general election. Motion by Kruger to set this meeting for Monday, November 14 at 12 Noon, seconded by Kunkel, motion carried.
Motion by Kunkel, seconded by Lenz to adjourn the October meeting of the Adrian Board of Education at 6:32 P.M., motion carried.
