The Adrian Senior Meal Site said a sad farewell to longtime Site Manager, Mary Lund, as she stepped down from her managerial duties. They are happy to welcome new Site Manager, Marie Schwebach, into the fold.
Marie is a familiar face at the site as she has been coming in for the exercise programs held on Mondays and Thursdays. She enjoys the social benefits the meal site offers Seniors.
The Senior Meal Site, which is managed by Lutheran Social Services, provides lunch to seniors 60 years and older in the basement of the Slade building. The meal meets 1/3 of the daily nutritional requirements. There is a suggested donation of $4 to $7.20 per meal, but no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. They serve Monday through Friday at 11:30, they ask that you please sign up a day ahead of time so they have enough meals on hand. You can sign up at the Meal Site or by calling Marie at 483-2588 or 483-2741. They also do send out frozen meals and shelf stable meals in the case of bad weather.
Marie adds that the Meal Site is more than food, it is a social network for Seniors in the area. They provide activities throughout the month including bingo, cards, a monthly birthday party the second Tuesday of the month and they plan to start a board game day.
