Our sympathy to the family of Marv Lorang, whose funeral was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church last Monday. Marv passed away on Veterans Day—very fitting for a man who was so dedicated to the American Legion as well as all community activities. Marv owned and operated his own TV and Appliance store from 1967-1979 and drove school bus. He retired from the Farmers Union Co-op Oil in 1998, but still did road maintenance for Lismore Township until 2010. He was an avid storyteller, loved simple pleasures such as reading the newspaper and a good cup of coffee, pickup rides with his dog, Sally, and tinkering. Marv and Ruth raised a fine family of five children and enjoyed their twelve grandchildren. Blessed be the memory of Marv Lorang.

Nick Lorang, son of Mark & Janine, has always been a busy guy. As he looks forward to his college graduation, he is busier than ever. Graduation will be a stepping-stone to more schooling and more experiences that will lead him on a much different path than the one he had originally planned. The senior human biology/pre med major has decided to put medical school on hold while he pursues masters degrees in communication studies and administration of student affairs. Eventually, Nick may work as a professor or in student affairs; he learned that his passion was there while being involved in so many activities at SDSU. As a student Senator, teaching assistant, anatomy intern, trumpet player in the band, choir member, and media coordinator for the Hobo Day committee. Nick has kept busy and by doing so, it has allowed him to find his strengths and many talents. Whatever Nick chooses to be, he will be a good one. Deb Lutmer accompanied Cindy & Dean Bullerman of Adrian to Iona to attend the 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Ken & Marlys Knuth of Slayton held at St. Columba Hall, the exact spot where their wedding reception was held on November 19, 1966. The Knuth’s were “roasted and toasted” by their family and friends. The Knuth’s renewed their wedding vows at the church and received a special blessing from Fr. Thien Nguyen. Everyone enjoyed dancing the night away to the music provided by the White Sidewalls. Congratulations to Ken & Marlys! (a side note: Ken Knuth, owner of K-Communications, was the former cable tv provider for Rushmore & Lismore. Marlys serves on the Minnesota CDA State Board. The Knuth’s also hosted the Harvest Mass for the Diocese of Winona in 2014.)
