Barry & Kerry Sauer’s daughters are still making Cross Country strides! The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings women’s cross country team had three athletes place in the top 15 at the 2016 UMAC championships.  Senior Megan Sauer placed fifth and her sister, Morgan, finished in twelfth place and was the recipient of the 2016 UMAC Individual Sportsmanship award! Congratulations, ladies!  Your accomplishments are amazing.

Congratulations to Lismore’s newly elected mayor, Jill Diekmann and councilmen, Dan Diekmann and Steven Wieneke.

When you see Pam Kramer around town, be sure to welcome her to Lismore.  Pam recently sold her home and moved from Adrian into the house formerly owned by Brandon & Lydia Diekmann on East 4th Street.  Pam’s phone number is 760-450-6687.  Brandon & Lydia and daughter, Morgan didn’t move very far. They moved across the street into the former Neurenberg home.  That made for a convenient move! Congratulations to everyone in their new living quarters.

A good crowd enjoyed the Sunday matinee performance of “Miss High School USA Beauty Pageant” at Adrian High School.  This comedy provided many chuckles and showcased the talent our students possess.  Hats off to all who participated, whether it was being a character/contestant in the play, part of the set/sound/light crew, or the “behind the scenes” people.  It takes everyone to make it a success!

It is a tradition for the area Catholic Daughters to hold a Mass for their deceased members each November.  Masses have been held in Lismore, Wilmont, and Adrian.  The three courts join together in Unity and Charity and celebrate with one Mass, which was held at Our Lady of Good Counsel on Thursday, November 10th.  Members from Court St. Bernard #886 of Lismore, Ct. Madonna #839, and Court Santa Maria #247 gathered to recite the names, remember, and pray for their sisters who have gone from this world.  Refreshments were served following the service. Thanks to the Chaplain of the three courts, Fr. Andrew Beerman, for celebrating this special Mass with the Catholic Daughters.

Good food and fellowship were on the menu for the First Presbyterian Church on Sunday as they served a soup & dessert luncheon.  Throughout the luncheon, guests bid on silent auction items.  One traditional auction item is a cooler filled with “mystery” items.  The one catch to winning the cooler–the person who buys it must bring it back next year filled with something new.  Past cooler contents have included all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner, ground beef and the ingredients to make several hot dishes, a large stuffed snowman and a supply of various paper products.  Bruce & Brenda Loosbrock returned the cooler this year and the lucky “winner” of the cooler was Lori Klooster of Adrian.  The cooler was filled with a first aid kit, goggles, ice scraper, sweatshirt, flag, hats and several other Loosbrock Digging promotional items.  It’s a fun way to carry on tradition and stretch your imagination!

Rick and Adam Lutmer of Omaha, NE were weekend guests in the home of Frank and Debby Wieneke.  It wasn’t all pheasant hunting as they had work along the way in Spirit Lake, IA.

Kayla & Nick Weber and son Alex were Friday overnight guests in the home of her grandparents, Jerry & Mary Kellen.  Little Alex had important news to tell his great-grandparents.  He came out of the bedroom wearing a t-shirt announcing that he was going to be a big brother!  The Webers later went to Adrian to inform the other great-grandmother, Mary Lund, of their exciting news.  They returned to their home in Burnsville on Saturday. Congratulations to everyone!

Earl & Nancy Wolf of St. Paul were weekend guests in the home of her parents, Flory & Mary Ann Loosbrock.  They came especially to visit with Flory while he recuperates in Slayton.
