PAT’s & broken coverage lead to Dragon defeat
The Adrian Dragons, the number one seed, took on the number three seed, the MCC Rebels, and it was the Rebels that came out on top in the Section Finals 27 to 26 in overtime. Adrian’s inability to convert PAT’s and to cover receivers in the passing game led to their demise.
Adrian’s kickoff and their defense held the Rebels in 3 plays and out with Mitchell Wagner and Landon Rogers tackling the ball carriers for a loss on downs 1 and 2.
Adrian then used 10 plays to go 38 yards. A big play in the drive was a Ryan Wieneke runoff 22 yards. Adrian scored 1st to take an 8 to 0 lead when Ryan Wieneke scored from 1 yard out. On the PAT, Dylan Gyberg ran the ball in and the Dragons led at the 6:35 mark of the 1st quarter.
