Mike & Donna (Wieneke) Fischer of Mapleton are the proud parents of twin girls born on October 22, 2016.  The little ladies, Jaida Dianne and Lilah Alise, join an older sister, Kiera (age 5). Proud grandmother is Diana Wieneke of North Mankato and the late Daryl Wieneke.  The Wieneke’s are former Lismore residents. Congratulations to everyone!

Irma Lorang from Bloomington spent the week in the home of Veryl & Avis Stoffel and her brother Earl Hebig and other relatives & friends.

Shelly Loosbrock was among the students of Benedictine College and residents of Atchison, KS who were evacuated last week when a chemical spill occurred at the MGP Ingredients Plant in Atchison.  About 85 people required care for upper respiratory discomfort following the accident while a couple thousand people were evacuated to a state park northwest of the city. Shelly travelled about 20 miles north to St. Joseph where she met her brother Stephen.  The two siblings continued north to Omaha, NE where their sister Nichole joined them and they all spent the weekend in Lismore at the home of their parents, Bruce & Brenda.

Florian Loosbrock is receiving rehabilitation in a swing bed at the Murray County Hospital in Slayton.  Get well wishes may be sent to him at is home: 125 4th Street, Lismore, MN 56155.

Celebrating an early Halloween at the Ken & Vickie Leinen home were Jen & Josh Gehloff and children Sydnee and Xxander of St. Charles Church.  Grandma Vickie entertained the little ones with lots of fun Halloween crafts and candy! Who had more fun…the grandkids or the grandparents?

The First Presbyterian Church will hold their annual soup & dessert dinner on Sunday, November 13th at the Lismore Legion Hall. The country store will open at 10:30 and serving begins at 11:00 a.m.  Throughout the day, a silent auction will be taking place with closing bids at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this free will offering event.

Don’t forget about SOCK-tober!  Ct. St. Bernard #886 is sponsoring “sock-tober” for the month of October and into November.  Everyone is encouraged to donate a pair or bag of socks.  The socks will be given to the local food shelves in Worthington at Thanksgiving time.  Socks for all ages are welcome.  New, clean socks are often taken for granted and members felt this was a fitting quality of life project.

The Lismore CCW along with the Diocese of Winona and Catholic Charities is supporting the Baby Bottle Campaign.  Donations from this campaign assist women to choose adoption or parenting rather than abortion.  Baby bottles are available in the back of St. Anthony Church. It is asked that they be filled with your spare change and returned later this month.

Deb Lutmer and Cindy Bullerman were Friday overnight guests in the home of Sophie Zvonar in Perham.  On Saturday, they attended the “Puttin’ on the Ritz” Style Show at St. Henry’s Catholic Church.  Sophie and Deb served together as state officers for the Minnesota Catholic Daughters. Many other area CDA gals attended this annual fundraiser and enjoyed the food, fashion, and fun.

Celebrating the 5th birthday of Jaxon and Nolan Jonas on Friday at the home of Great-Grandma Joyce Erdman was their dad Jason Jonas and Grandpa Mark Jonas, both of Garretson, SD and Grandma Gail Erdman of Primghar, IA. Other guests included Randy Egenes of Hawarden, IA; Justin and Meredith Jonas and Brooke and Claire of Sheldon, IA; and Pam Luettel of Adrian and her grandson Ian Meyeraan of Luverne.  They all enjoyed supper, cake and ice cream and opening of their gifts!
