randystrandCoach Randy Strand of the Adrian Dragons has been selected by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association to coach in this year’s High School All-Star Football Game. Coach Strand will assist the South Coaching Staff of Mike Grant (son of ex-Minnesota Viking’s head coach Bud Grant).  The High School showcase will be played on December 3, 2016 in the Minnesota Viking’s new U.S. Bank Stadium.

Coach Strand along with Coach Kevin Nowotny has coached the Adrian Dragons for the past 32 years. Together the two have compiled 234 wins versus 102 losses (70% winning percentage) winning nine (9) Conference Championships. Their teams have competed in twelve (12) sections championships including 10 consecutive sections finals. The Dragons have finished runner-up in four State Championship Games while going to the state playoffs six (6) times. It is Strand’s second time selected to coach in the High School All-Star Game.

“Obviously, an award like this is the result of a lot of good players and lot of good coaches doing a lot of good things over a period of time,“ says Strand. “Anytime you’re picked by your peers for such an event, it is very humbling and certainly a great honor for me. But, I’ll also be the first to tell you it’s what we have done as a team that has gotten me recognized. I’ve been fortunate to have student-athletes that have enjoyed playing football with a Dragon passion and have also been fortunate to have good assistant coaches on the sidelines. This honor is certainly a reflection what Adrian football has done over the past seasons.”

Along with Strand and Nowotny, this year’s coaching staff includes: Randy Schettler, Joe Kruger, Gregg Nelson, and Cody Henrichs.
