Funeral Services for Paul L. Lewis, age 87, of Cherry Hill, NJ, were held Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the Schetter Funeral Home, Cherry Hill, NJ. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Cheery Hill, NJ. Paul died October 13, 2016.
Paul was born on September 7, 1929, to William J. and Eleanor (Masgai) Lewis, in Adrian, MN. He grew up in Adrian and graduated from St. Adrian High School in 1947. After graduation he attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN, Knowing he would be drafted soon, Paul volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1948. He served in the Army for four years, which included a tour in Germany. Following his discharge he returned to Adrian. On July 26, 1954 Paul was united in marriage to Marlen Beek at St. Adrian Catholic Church. Their children include; Larry (Sharon), Jeff (Janice) and Maureen (Mike) Applegate. Marlen died in 1980. In 1985, Paul married their good friend and neighbor Mariam Barker. Paul was the manager of the Adrian Coop Creamery for several years, before continuing his education at the University of Minnesota where he earned a B.A. degree in Engineering. He was employed at McQuay’s for many years before moving to Philadelphia area where he was employed with ITT until his retirement.
Survivors include his three children, wife Mariam and her three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Pat (Cyril) Henning Adrian, MN, and Joe of Milwaukee, MN, Bill (Judy) of Fairbault, MN, and Edwin of Brandon, SD. Sisters-in-law Mary Lewis and Carolyn Lewis. Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Carl. Sisters-in-law Mary Ellen and Ann.
