The bar in Ellsworth has new owners, Stan and Vickie Steensma of Luverne. Stan and Vicki opened the doors on September 9th, after doing some painting inside and tearing up carpet and replacing it with a metallic painted floor. They renamed the business Mickie’s, this is Vickie’s nickname from her nieces and nephews when they were unable to pronounce the “V” in her name. They open their doors at 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be open for special occasions on Sunday. (Vickie will post and advertise when they will be open on a Sunday.)
For Vickie, opening a business in Ellsworth is a bit of a homecoming. Her mother was born and raised in Ellsworth and she has several relatives there. She has enjoyed the opportunity to visit with her family there more. Vickie laughs as she explains, that her family has also been called to help out quite often, until she can get a feel for how many employees she will need and start hiring in a few months.
