Funeral Services for Marvin Steenhoven, age 89, were held July 8, 2016, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Adrian, MN, with Pastor Kerry Boese officiating. Marvin Steenhoven passed away June 30, 2016 at VA Regional Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Preston, MN, with full military honors.

Marv was born September 1, 1927 at Ocheyedan, Iowa, the son of Charles and Mildred (Brunk) Steenhoven. He graduated from Sibley High School and immediately enlisted with the US Army. He served in Japan at the end of WWII.

After serving in the Army, Marv returned to Sibley where he sold cars. He married JoAnn Cleveland. Marv moved to Adrian in 1953 where he operated Steenhoven Ford for many years. JoAnn passed away in February of 1970 and Marv married Mary Arends on December 19, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian. Marv closed the dealership in Adrian in 1989 and then owned Specialty Auto Sales in Sioux Falls from 1990-2004.

Marv was on the first Honor Flight from Minnesota to Washington D.C. He was one of the original members of the Adrian Booster Club and a life-time member of the Rock County VFW Post.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four step children, Warren (Jan) Arends of Rock Rapids, IA, Susan (Brad) Thorson of Harmony, MN, Loren Arends of New Lisbon, WI, and Chris (Kim) Arends of Dundee, MN; six step grandchildren; Jessica, Megan, Dylan, Jason, Gail and Jeremy; and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, JoAnn; and a brother, Don.
