A beautiful simple wedding took place Saturday, August 13th at 4:30 p.m. in the new Hilton Garden Inn in Sioux Falls, SD.  Huston Heitkamp, son of Terri and Doug Petersen and Ray and Janine Heitkamp was married to Kim Van Wyk, daughter of Laura and Scott Van Wyk of LeMars, Iowa.  The two were married in a huge room on the first floor of the Garden Inn.  Officiating was Rev. Sherri.  The four Heitkamp daughters, Chelsea, Lacey, McCall, Hailee, and Ashley Peterson stood up for Kim.  Huston chose his good friend Sam LeBrun, Doug Petersen, Chris Van Wyk, Will Lutmer and Ryan Petersen for his attendants.  After the wedding, the guests were treated to hors d’oeuvre and drinks on the west side of the Inn.  Dinner was in the beautiful wedding room that was transformed into a dining room.  Toasts were given by members of both families.  The guests enjoyed delicious food and an array of desserts.  I was escorted by good friend Colleen Bents, a most delightful companion.  It was a delightful evening.

About 90 relatives from Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota gathered at the American Legion Hall for a Mueller reunion last Saturday.  It was the reunion of the late Velma Mueller family.  All had a great time and made many memories.

Thanks to Diane Lutmer for all the work she does to keep our landscaping areas alive and well.  That is true dedication.

Our Minnesota Vikings won their first pre-season game.  They play again on August 28th.

Good story about our great 4-H kids and all the work they do.  They deserve a pat on the back.  Tell them thanks.

Didn’t you love to read about the friendship between Worthington and Crailsheim, Germany?  In 1990, my late husband Tom, and I drove through Crailsheim on a Sunday afternoon and didn’t see one person on the many streets we drove through.  We found one person at the railroad center and he told us (in broken English) that nothing is open on Sundays.
