For the first time since 1999, the descendants of Charles and Ida (Sieve) Springman gathered on Saturday, June 23, for a reunion on the shores of Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, Minnesota. Multiple waves of heavy thunderstorms rolled through the Twin Cities area that afternoon, but the 160 attendees stayed comfortably dry under a large tent, expanded that morning in anticipation of the rain.
The attendees were the families of Charles and Ida’s 6 children (who married and had families: Joe, Clair, Elaine Erlandson, Willie, Carol Balster, Harry) and 43 grandchildren. Representing their children’s generation were Carol (Springman) & Rich Balster of Wilmont, Harry & Barb Springman of Worthington, Marian Springman (Joe’s wife) of Worthington, and Dee Springman (Willie’s wife) of Owatonna. Of Charles & Ida’s 43 grandchildren, 35 were there.
