Megan and Morgan Sauer traveled to Italy as part of a class “Way of the Martyrs” at Bethany College. The first part of the class was spent in the classroom learning about Italy before traveling to the country. Megan was able to travel to Israel two years ago as part of a class, but this was Morgan’s first trip overseas.
The group traveled the path of St. Paul along the Appian Way. The Appian Way was one of the earliest and most important Roman Roads and is the reason for the saying “all roads lead to Rome.” According to biblical stories the Appian Way was where Jesus Christ appeared to St. Peter.
