The 67th Annual Tri-State Band Festival will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2016 with 26 bands participating.
Bands from Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa converge on the Luverne community to take part in one of the longest running community marching competitions in the region! With 26 bands participating, 2,500 students perform throughout the day!
The Parade Competion is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am on Main Street in Downtown Luverne! Nineteen marching bands will perform on the parade route. The parade marshals for the 67th Annual Tri-State Band Festival are the Luverne Music Boosters.
Watch the flags wave, hear the horns blare and see the intricate maneuvers of 15 bands at the Field Competition which begins at 12:30 pm on the Cardinal Football Field of the Luverne Public Schools at 709 North Kniss Avenue (on Highway 75) in Luverne.
2017 participating bands are: Adrian, MN; Boyden-Hull, IA; Brandon Valley, SD; Garretson, SD; George-Little Rock, IA; Huron, SD; Lennox, SD; Lincoln, Sioux Falls, SD; Madison, SD; Murray County Central, MN; O’Gorman, Sioux Falls, SD; Pipestone Area, MN; Sheldon IA; Sibley-Ocheyedan, IA; Sioux Falls Christian, SD; Stewartville, MN; South O’Brien, IA; Stewartville, MN; Tea, SD; Tracy, MN; West Central HS, SD; West Lyon, IA; Worthington, MN; Yankton, SD, and the host bands-the Luverne Middle School and the Luverne High School Band.
The Guest Band for the event is the South Dakota State University “Pride of the Dakotas.” “The Pride” is the most visible band at SDSU. In addition to performances during the pregame and halftime activities of all home Jackrabbit football games, the Pride has toured the Upper Midwest extensively, presenting shows at the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Winnipeg Blue Bombers football games and several guest performances at high school marching competitions in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota.
